Medina Valley ISD opened Creek View High School this fall on the far west side of the San Antonio area. It is the district’s second high school, funded by the $376 million bond voters passed in May 2023, and it filled up on arrival: the district finished last year around 9,800 students, expected more than 10,500 this year, and projects around 20,000 by 2033. That is a new school’s worth of kids showing up every year, whether or not the buildings exist yet.
Bulverde Glass installed the glazing. MP Drafting drew the set and did the structural engineering.

Tubelite carries the envelope. The 400T is the curtain wall at the entry and the larger openings, the T14000 does the storefront work, the INT-14 handles interior conditions, and Maxblock sunshades sit over the openings that face the sun. Monumental wide stile doors at the entries, because a high school door gets opened about a million times a year and slammed for half of them.
The CRL and US Aluminum scope is what makes a school a school. Channel and J-channel for the interior glass, Blumcraft display doors and Nova display cases for the trophies, and manual sliding service windows at the offices and concessions.
Three Catalogs, One Building
Every manufacturer details differently. Different profiles, different glazing methods, part numbering that agrees with nobody. The transitions are where it gets interesting: interior channel meeting a storefront jamb, a display case dying into masonry, a service window sitting in a corridor wall. Those get resolved on paper, or they get resolved at 6 a.m. by an installer with an opinion.
Interior scope is also where school packages sprawl. Display cases and service windows multiply across a campus, and each one is small enough to ignore until it holds up an inspection.
If you are quoting a school, count the interior openings twice. That is where the sheet count comes from.
The First Day of School Does Not Move
A high school has the least forgiving deadline in construction. The students were already enrolled and the existing high school was already full, so submittals had to move through review without stalling on drawing questions. The secure vestibules got drawn with the access control and sightlines in them from the start, not squeezed in after, because in a Texas school district that part of the design is nobody’s afterthought.
The structural engineering rode along with the drawings: curtain wall spans at the entry and Maxblock outriggers loading back into the framing, calculated and detailed in the same set. This was also our second Tubelite package after Vanderbilt’s Garland Hall. Different building, same catalogs.
