About MP Drafting

A U.S.-based drafting team built for commercial glazing planning

MP Drafting supports glazing contractors with precision planning that holds up in the field and in submittals. We are fully U.S.-based, with the team capacity to take on real production volume without losing clarity or responsiveness.

  • Fully U.S.-based.
  • Built for coordinated, architect-ready shop drawings (not "generic" sets).
  • Known for "professional appearance" and "complete dimensioning."
About

Team Capacity

Capacity you can plan around

MP Drafting grew from a small team into a production group built to support commercial glazing projects with repeatable standards, internal review, and cleaner coordination from the start.

20-person production team

Production, coordination, and leadership all under one operating system.

Fully U.S.-based

Michigan-rooted support with coast-to-coast coverage, including Canada.

Structured QA and review

Internal checking is part of how MP works, not an add-on after the fact.

What Clients Say

What customers call out in our drawings

The feedback is usually less about flashy presentation and more about relief: fewer questions, more complete dimensioning, clearer notes, and a drawing set that reads like it was built for a real project instead of rushed over the line.

  • Completeness of the shops
  • Professional appearance
  • Easy to work with
  • Someone can actually get a hold of the team quickly

“The architect approved it on the first submission. That never happens.”

Glazing contractor, commercial storefront project

“The field crew did not have a single question about the sill condition. Every dimension they needed was right there.”

Project manager, curtain wall job

“A big one is that they can get a hold of us easily.”

Glazing contractor, ongoing relationship

“Complete dimensioning prevents extra questions before fabrication.”

Our Story

Built in Michigan. Grown through production work.

MP Drafting was founded in 2006 and has been rooted in southeastern Michigan from the start. Over time, the team expanded from a small operation into a larger production group supporting multiple service lines across glazing planning and related technical work.

  • Founded in 2006 by Marcus Dreher
  • Michigan-based operations
  • Grew into a 20-person production team over time

GlazierIQ Network

Connected across drafting, training, and fabrication support.

MP Drafting is part of an integrated glazing industry ecosystem built to connect production support, training, and adjacent technical capability across the same operating network.

Our Approach

Structured from day one

When a project is in motion, PMs do not have time to manage a drafting vendor. The workflow is designed to reduce back-and-forth, remove avoidable delays, and make the path from intake to delivery easier to follow.

  • Preview support up front to catch missing info and remove preventable delays
  • Kickoff and intake forms to capture job-specific preferences and scope early
  • Clear questions and coordination during drafting, including live review calls when needed

How a typical project runs

  1. Quote Intake + Project Form

Scope, drawing set, and job-specific preferences are captured before production starts.

  2. Review Stage

The package is checked, feedback is coordinated, and avoidable friction gets resolved early.

  3. Production

Drafting begins against confirmed scope, with questions handled by the production team.

  4. Final Delivery

Organized submittal sets, PDFs, and DWGs are issued cleanly and archived for reference.

Engineering

Planning first. Engineering as structural validation.

MP Drafting produces coordinated shop drawings that resolve real-world conditions, fabrication detail, and field layout clarity. When engineering is required, it functions as structural validation and is coordinated in a way that keeps roles clear.

  • Shop drawings coordinate reality: dimensions, surrounding conditions, and installation clarity
  • Engineering validates structural performance and delegated design intent when required

Scope clarity: what each role covers

Drafting
Coordination, layout, surrounding conditions, and submittal clarity.
Engineering
Structural validation, load calculations, delegated design, and PE stamp when required.

The biggest shift is usually predictability. PMs stop babysitting the drawing package because the scope, review path, and revision trail are already built into how the work is delivered.

When engineering is required, it is coordinated as structural validation, not presented as a substitute for licensed engineering. That boundary keeps responsibilities cleaner and helps downstream teams understand who is covering what.

MP Drafting grew around real production work, so the team is built to support active commercial glazing jobs, repeatable review standards, and multi-project coordination without the output feeling improvised.

FAQs

Common first-job questions.

These address the most common first-job concerns: timing, revisions, coordination, and engineering positioning.

Are you U.S.-based?

Yes. MP Drafting is Michigan-based and fully U.S.-based, with operations rooted in southeastern Michigan.

Do you handle changes and revisions mid-stream?

Yes. Questions are handled during production by the scheduling and production team, typically over email, with live review calls when needed.

Do you provide engineering?

When engineering is required, it is positioned as structural validation and coordinated clearly alongside drafting. MP Drafting does not present itself as a replacement for a licensed professional engineer.

We have been “ghosted” by a drafting provider before. How is this different?

This is a common switching trigger. We run a structured intake and preview step early to reduce delays caused by missing information, and customers consistently cite that they can “get a hold of us easily.”

What do architects and GCs notice about MP sets?

Customers report compliments on “professional appearance” and “thoroughness,” and fabricators prefer the “complete dimensioning” because it generates fewer questions before fabrication.

What do you need from us to start?

At minimum: architectural drawings and clear scope. MP also uses a kickoff (KO) form to capture job-specific preferences and reduce assumptions early.

What keeps shop drawings from turning into field problems?

Accuracy and coordination. Incomplete or inaccurate drawings can cause incorrect orders, fabrication problems, and installation delays. MP’s standard emphasizes layout clarity, fastener clarity, and surrounding condition coordination.
