Garland Hall is one of the more visible projects on Vanderbilt’s campus: a historic academic building originally built in 1928, taken through a major renovation and addition to modernize it for current use while keeping its architectural character intact. Projects like this come with tight coordination requirements. Historic structure, new glazing systems, and a design team that expects everything to line up the first time.
That is where accurate shop drawings matter most.
Scope of the Glazing Package
MP Drafting produced the shop drawing package supporting the following systems on this project:
- Tubelite 400T curtain wall
- Tubelite T24650 storefront
- Tubelite E14000 entrances
- Tubelite thermal wide stile entrances
- Tubelite wide stile entrances
- Linetec extra dark bronze anodized finish
- Full engineering services included
Each of these systems has its own tolerances, anchoring requirements, and finish specifications. On a renovation like Garland Hall, where new glazing has to integrate with an existing structure, there is no room for a drawing set that raises more questions than it answers in the field.
Why It Worked
Coordinated shop drawings are what let installers, fabricators, and the architect work from the same information without back-and-forth delays. On a project with this much visibility, that coordination is not optional. It is the difference between a smooth install and a job that stalls out waiting on clarifications.
This is the same standard MP Drafting holds on every project, whether it is a historic campus renovation or a standard storefront package: clean, field-ready drawings that hold up under scrutiny from every side of the job, architect, contractor, and installer alike.
Some drafting companies can copy a detail. That does not mean they understand it.
Work With MP Drafting
If your regular drafting resource is backed up, or you need a partner who understands commercial glazing well enough to work like an extension of your own team, MP Drafting is ready.
Use Education to Get Ahead
Every missed deadline creates a ripple effect. Delayed fabrication, wrong orders, wasted time in the field. One way to cut that risk is by training your team to review drawings effectively.
